THE ROLE:

FloSports is seeking a Lead Copywriter / Copy Editor to join our Marketing team and help shape the voice of our brand across campaigns, channels, and platforms. This player-coach role blends copywriting and editorial leadership—perfect for someone who’s passionate about storytelling, meticulous about detail, and fluent in sports culture.

You’ll collaborate closely with marketing, content, and design teams to deliver sharp, engaging copy across event campaigns, lifecycle and brand campaigns, product launches, and website experiences. You’ll also serve as the editorial lead, providing oversight and mentorship to other writers, ensuring consistency, quality, and brand alignment in everything we publish.

We’re looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, brings a sharp editorial eye, and can jump in to write when needed. Successful candidates will have a background in sports marketing, sports journalism, or writing for streaming/subscription products.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Write and edit copy for a wide range of marketing initiatives, including email campaigns, landing pages, product launches, brand campaigns, and paid media.
  • Provide editorial oversight, ensuring brand voice, clarity, tone, and consistency across all marketing and customer touchpoints.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Marketing, Content, Product, and Design teams to execute high-impact campaigns that drive fan engagement and business growth.
  • Review and refine copy from internal teams and freelancers, offering constructive feedback and coaching to elevate writing quality.
  • Own and maintain brand editorial guidelines, ensuring they evolve with our tone, audience, and business priorities.
  • Balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, setting a high bar for editorial excellence while rolling up your sleeves to write under tight deadlines.
  • Contribute to ideation and messaging strategy for major moments—from new product features and seasonal campaigns to sport-specific storytelling.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • 8–10 years of experience in copywriting, copy editing, or content marketing, ideally with at least 2 years in a lead or editorial capacity.
  • Strong portfolio showcasing compelling marketing copy and editorial craftsmanship across digital channels.
  • Experience in sports media, sports marketing, or journalism is required; familiarity with the streaming or subscription landscape is a major plus.
  • Exceptional editing skills, with a deep understanding of grammar, syntax, and style.
  • Strong storytelling instincts and the ability to translate complex ideas into concise, engaging copy.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and shifting priorities; able to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
  • Collaborative and low-ego, with a desire to mentor others and contribute to a high-performance creative team.
