Newell Brands is searching for a Senior Copywriter to join our Design Team to support a portfolio of outdoor brands, including Marmot, Coleman, ExOfficio, Contigo, and Bubba.
This role will be a part of the O&R copy team working on two outdoor brands, Marmot and Coleman, two beverage brands Contigo and Bubba, plus performance underwear brand, ExOfficio. The right candidate for this role is comfortable presenting copy and creative ideas to multiple stakeholders. This individual will have a strong aptitude for concepting brand voice and campaign strategies, with the ability to probe deeply into creative briefs and bring seasonal campaigns and innovative product stories to life across the entire 360 consumer journey, from packaging to paid media to brand.com.
This writer also demonstrates the ability to execute a wide variety of copy assets like email campaigns, product descriptions, paid social, website, and more. The right candidate for this role is comfortable working independently, can set their own priorities and multitask well, but is also a true collaborator and always open to learning. The right candidate also has experience collaborating with designers to bring campaigns to life from concept to execution. They must be adaptable and able to switch tone of voice while navigating content across different brands. They value consistency, accuracy, and enjoy a fast-paced and flexible work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategize, refine, and deliver on brand promise, tone, voice, and personality
Develop and pitch seasonal, product, and brand campaign concepts and partner with cross-functional stakeholders on planning and briefing
Leverage collaborative tools like Miro and project management platforms to problem solve and create new processes as needed
Conceptualize and write a wide variety of digital and physical copy assets—including campaign headlines, paid social, emails, packaging and hangtags, product copy, website copy, banner ads, in-store signage, physical banners/billboards, video scripts, and more.
Work and collaborate closely with designers on campaign visuals and launch deliverables
Work with producers/project managers and other stakeholders to deliver copy in accordance with business needs and on deadline
Stay abreast of innovations and best practices in ecommerce creative
Leverage web analytics, customer insights, and user feedback to optimize content impact
Adhere to internal, brand, and retailer style guides to maintain content standards
Perform other tasks as needed
Qualifications:
BA in English or Creative Writing, or relevant work experience
4-6 years of copywriting work experience; 1+ years as Copy Lead/Senior writer preferred
Proven team contributor with experience working on brand campaigns at an ad agency or an in-house brand team
Outdoor Industry, Apparel, eCommerce, and/or CPG direct-to-consumer experience is a plus
Demonstrated integrity and maturity, and a solution-oriented approach to challenges
Ability to operate independently given direction
Ability to work well with both speed and simplicity
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Interpersonal savvy: an ability to effectively work with and connect with all levels of employees across multiple functions and geographies
Detail-oriented and operationally focused
Ability to adapt to various rounds of feedback from multiple stakeholders and pivot accordingly
Demonstrated ability to juggle multiple activities and assignments simultaneously
Experience or strong personal interest in working with Outdoor Gear and/or Recreational Brands is a plus
The NJ base pay range for this position is from $83,800 to $115,000. Salary will be based on prior experience related to the skills required for this position.
